Bathtubs in a Field is my first foray into novel writing. I couldn’t seem to find anything I wanted to read. I realize now I simply wasn’t looking in the right places, but at the time everything I was finding was too much romance or spy games etc. I wanted to read a story about a regular woman living a regular life. I thought about who in my own world that might be and realized my own Godmother was a great example. With her in mind I created a character and sat down and started writing.

Much as she thought those erectile dysfunction commercials with the bathtubs on a mountainside or in some field of waving fronds of something were ridiculous, she never realized how close they were to her expectation. Leslie had only recently realized that she had envisioned retirement being lazy time on a wraparound porch with matching rocking chairs next to a wonderful man who had loved her through the good and the bad of their life together.  Too bad she hadn’t ever run across that man.

Facing retirement she had to decide how she was going to fill her days and who she wanted to include as part of those days.
